Default is there a suppose to be a whole in tranny?

this has to deal with my previous post about fluid leaking on/out of the transmission. i jacked up the car, after letting it sit all night, and i could see where the puddle of fluid was coming from. there is a little squarehole at the bottom of the transmission. Its almost against the gasket, but not touching it. umm thereare some identification numbers/letters like 2-3 inches from the hole. Its almost a perfect little square hole.
Is that hole suppose to be there? if so is it the gasket that connects tranny to engine?

Can you get a picture of the hole? Is it right next to the engine block? I'm just guessing, but it could be a built in "weep" hole, in case one of your tranny seals goes bad, or a main seal. It would allow the oil to drain out so your clutch doesn't get soaked with oil. That's just a guess though without being able to actually see the hole.

I can't really tell from those (small) pictures. Is the hole not square? It looks like one side of it tapers off to where the bell housing/block meet.

yea, the whole is not perfectly square after re-examining it. umm its right where the bellhousing and block meet. but why should there be fluid?

There shouldn't be fluid in that area. That is where the clutch/pressure plate is. I can only assume your rear main is leaking oil, or a shaft seal for your tranny is leaking. Are you losing gear oil? If so, a shaft seal is likely the culprit.
