timing belt
it would be greatly appreciated if some one could tell me how i know when to replace the timing belt on my fathers 94 3000gt sl? after how many miles should i replace the timing belt ?(i have 75,000 miles on it but it was just recently bought so i dont know if it has ever been replaced the mechanic said he feels it has never been replaced). thank you for ur help
You should have your timing belt changed every 60,000 miles this will save you big repair bills. i just had mine done last month, I also went ahead and had the water pump and hydraulic tensioner changed out at the same time, it costs a little more but better safe than sorry. It ran me 1300.00 to have it done at the dealership.
damn u got ripped on 1300 i just replaced all that stuff on mine for like 700 but i did it myself except for the water pump (and the guy that put it on is the reason i had to replace the belt and tensioner). heres a high quality belt that isnt much more than what u will pay for a stock one at the dealership ($180 vs. $160) www.3sxperformance.com but i got a stock one from napa for $125
