MY STOP LIGHTS DOES NOT FUNCTION !!!!

MY STOP LIGHTS DONT FUNCTION !!!!
Im the owner of a Diamante 1992 With a V6 engine DOHC of 3000cc.
Since a few months ago, the stop lights are not function, they turn on but they dont iluminate when you apply the brakes.
Is there any switch or valve than control that function? If so, where is located andwhat isthe P/N ?
Any answer to this problem will be appreciated

the switch is located by the brake peddle there is a rubber pad that is on the arm for the brake pedal make sure it is still there
if it wears out the switch will have nothing to contact
if it wears out the switch will have nothing to contact
