Default Pulling a F4A51 transmission

Hello,
I am attempting the dreaded transmission swap - I am swapping a 2002 tranny for one out of an 03.

How hard is it to do ?
Do I need tranny shop to do it, or is it shadetree mechanic ablity. I mean I have a regular mechanis who does everything, including fix the timing belt water pump when it jumped ... should I try him

Cool.
Srinath.

The mitsubishi strikes again.
Bad transmission relay, and swapping it from the parts car fixed it.
Cool.

Default Broke again

OK the "fixed" car is now dead again.
Now the transmission is completely dead, no forward gears at all.
A few mins before it died the car was going forward in Reverse.
No noises, grinding or anything.
I still think its electrical.
Has anyone had this happen ?
Thanks.
Srinath.

did it work in between swapping the box and being "completely dead"
if not, you done f*cked something up.

go and buy a car 15 years older, they're so much easier to fix.

Default It worked for 1000 miles

Yes after swapping the transmission solenoid relay it worked for over 1000 miles and 2 months.

I think its still electronic though ... solenoids or something.

Cool.

And the "dead" transmission - which before going "dead" went forward in reverse - about 20 mins ago went into reverese when you put it in Reverse, and backed up a few feet ...
Cool.
