Question What oil to use? ticking sound

Hi,

New to owning a Mitsubishi, and having trouble finding information.

1) What oil should i be using in a 1997 3.0L 6G72 Diamante?

-I have just done an oil change (Castrol mineral 15W-40 & Ryco Z411 filter), and now noticing the hydraulic lifters after starting when cold. Should i use a thinner-grade oil (i.e. 10W-40)?

2) Since doing the oil change, i can hear a light 'tap tap tap' sound about once every revolution. It fades in and out when idling, and goes away when i rev the engine above 1500rpm.

- I hear this could either be the lash adjusters/hydraulic lifters, or something to do with the timing belt idlers. Is this right? Any ideas?

Appreciate any help,
Nick

Ok, I'm new to this Mitsubishi Forum. I have been using Mobile 1 0W-30 or winter, and 0W-40 for summer. 15W-40 sounds a bit thick. I have used Lucas Oil Stabilizer with good results, but I have not put any in my 6G72. Not yet, anyway. Ya, I know, this is almost 2 years old. Sorry.
