Exclamation 2011 Endeavor Engine - TCL Indicator

I'm a new 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor owner. When I purchased this model, it had approximately 14000 km's on it. Was informed by the dealership that this model was used by a district manager (maybe, maybe not true).
Subsequently have put on roughly 55000 km's myself. This past May 2013, on a Saturday, jumped into the vehicle and upon starting it, the "engine and TCL indicator" came on. Not knowing what the issue was, called the dealership and booked an appointment for the following Friday. Dealership advised that, driving it wouldn't harm it any further. Took it in and they scanned it. Turns out it was a sensor, they cleared it. And I thought things would be fine. This past Saturday (02 Nov,2013), exact same indicator's came on, no less on a Saturday (go figure!). Called dealership, they told me to bring it in on Monday. Did so. Technician advised that it was the same code/sensor as last time. They cleared it BUT now they tell me that if it comes on again, I'll be needing to change the spark plugs (6) and the coil at a cost of close to $1500.00. Currently at approximately 69200 km's.

So my questions are:
- Why is this occurring, shouldn't spark plugs last for at least 80000 Km's or longer?
- Could this have been a pre-existing condition? If so, how would I know?
- Is there anything preventive that I should/could be doing? (i.e.: using different/higher gas octane?).

Any insight would be appreciated.
George

It looks like dealer is trying to sell you something you don't need.

TCL could stand for Traction Control Logic, nothing to do with ignition at all.

Could you please post the pic of this warning light?

And spark plugs should work considerably longer than 80K or 100K kms, unless they're damaged by low quality gas like found on some Canadian Tire stations in Quebec.
