For anyone going down this road I decided to have the dealer replace mine last November ('05 Endeavour). I was all for doing it myself but a few factors made me use the dealer. I was going away for a week and the mileage was at 120,000 km so I left it with them to do at their convenience.
On discussion with the desk, they assured me that the tensioner and accessory belts would be done also. They advised me that the water pump and oil seal would last 250,000 km so I can address that at the next belt replacement.
I couldn't believe the cost of all I had done (transmission flush included) was less than the quote given me. That's never happened before!

 

Manybrews some friends gave our children a 2004 endeavor with 208000 miles I ask them if the timing belt had been replaced they said no. When do you change them if you do, I have noticed not much said about many people changing them. Just concerned!!

 

replacing them every 100 is common practice and dramatically lessens the chance of failure.
Its not impossible for an engine to survive 300 unserviced, just highly unlikely.
