To hook up the iPod to the 6-disc changer you have 2 options.

1. Part # MZ607411EX - iPod Adapter - Charges iPod and interfaces so you can use the radio controls to control the iPod functions. List for $199.95.

2. Part # MZ360135EX - MP3/iPod Cable - Plugs into the headphone jack on the iPod. Does not charge or interface. List for $19.95.

You can get them at your local Mitsu dealer.

 

Is Item #2 a wireless FM modulator or is this a cable for the 13 pin socket on hte back of my Head? The reason I ask is if it is for the 13 Pin plug on hte head, how is the Radio input changed? There is no aux on my unit. It is either Radio or Built In CD. no other choice?

 

No it is not a FM modulator. It plugs into the 22-pin connector on the back of the radio.(pins 2,3,13)

To play: Plug in device then turn on. Press CD Button for 2 seconds(AUX will be shown on vechicle display). Start playing the music by controlling the portable audio player.

 

OK, now I am confused. I called the dealer to order the part and they advised that the part is not for my 04 Endeavor XLS. I also looked at the back of the Head and there is no 22 Pin connection (unused). So you must be talking about an In-Line cable that goes in betwen the existing modular connection. Why the dealer claims it is not for my vehicle is another thing altogether.

 

Tell the dealer to look up Parts Bulletin No. Al-XX-01-07

Ask them for the part # of your radio. Have them look it up by your VIN #.

Part # 8701A045 uses MZ607411EX
Part # 8701A110 uses MZ360135EX or MZ607411EX

Ok, lets try one more thang. The installation instructions for the cable say 14 pin/22 pin connector depending on the radio. Try these pins on the 14 pin connector.

Black = pin 14
Red = pin 13
White = pin 12

Pin 14 is the bottom left pin. Move to the right 1 for pin 13 and to the right 1 more for pin 12.

[]Jeez Ronnie, I pluged it in as you indicated and the black smoke started pouring out of the unit. I started to inhale the smoke and got high. So high that I decided to write back and scare you. Just kiddin, I am going to try it tonight, should take me 5 min to hook it up.

Not so well Ronnie, the connector I have that best resembles you picture alreaady has a Black wire in the harness on position 12. Only 13 and 14 are open.
