I do not think that it will be covered under the powertrain warranty- I believe that the only items covered are parts that use a flowing oil or similar terminology/ verbage.

Default RE: question about warrenty

I used to have a Toyota Camry 03 and it got wrecked and now am a proud owner of a Black Endeavor LS...Anyways, when I had my Camry, I had K&N Filter a little too late. Apparently m car was hesitating before specially when cold weather was in. Anyway, brought it to Toyota and said MAF was bad. They replaced it and was about 200 bucks poorer. I researched and it showed that the MAF is more or less a deflector which has opotransistor inside. So depending on the frequency of light that is deflected on it, it reports it back to the CPU via the optotransistor. Cleaned out the old one and installed it on another vehicle. All OK...Also make sure that your air filter is really doing the job. When you clean MAF, let engine run at idle for about 15 mins to reprogram computer.

Hope this helps.
