Powertrain Warrenty/Timing Belt
Aside from the pamplet I got from the used car dealership, i can't find specifics on exactly what the powertrain warrenty covers...
Im looking to buy a 97 Galant, with 118,000 miles on it... and i know your supposed to replace the timing belt every 6 months... the dealership has a powertrain warrenty and i would like to know if thats something that they would cover? or if, they didnt... if the belt did go and the engine gets messed up, are they responsible for fixing the engine??
I've spent the last 2 hours searching on google and yahoo for details about the warrenty and couldnt find any....
Does anybody have any ideas?
I really appreciate it..
Thank You...

In general everything is covered before you buy and anything they can get out of is not covered afterword. I do not think you have to change your timing belt every six months unless you are putting 10,000 miles per month.
The Mitsubishi powertrain warranty for the 97 Galant is good for 5 years/ 60K miles. You are WELL past that. On top of that, the timing belt is a maintenance item which is not covered under warranty anyways. It is recommended that the Tbelt be replaced every 60K miles.
Good Luck!
