Default Remote starter

Hello.....I have recently purchased a 2005 Endeavor. I was told by the dealer that the micro-chip inside the ignition key must be duplicated or the code must be duplicated in order to install a remote starter.

Has anyone here installed a remote starter in their Endeavor? If so, can you tell me the pros and cons, or good and bad? Any feedback would be appreciated. I am in Massachusettts, and I can't find any Mitsubishi dealership willing to do this. It almost seems like it is taboo for them. Again, I am just looking for a remote starter install, not an alarm.

you have to bypass the factory immobilizer to get this to work. hence the reason no one will want to do it.

its generally not advised.

Ok...that sounds very complicated. Let me ask this. Has anyone installed an engine block heater, or defrosters for the side-view mirrors?

i personally dont recommend block heaters. they tend to cause long term leaks, as they're generally low quality.
but to each their own. I live in the snow belt in a crummy, cold state... and ive never needed nor used a block heater on any of my 45 cars. I simply start them, let them warm up, and thats it.

I'm from Massachusetts the dealer WILL not install your remote starter because you didn't buy the remote starter from them. Try Pro Spec(s) in Quincy,MA he is easy to find.
he install everything.

Did you have a remote starter installed? Any problems? Did you have to duplicate the micro-chip in the key?

Without telling you to f***off JB, you might sing a different tune if you lived in New England instead of Louisiana, with all due respect. I am not lazy. I simply want a remote start, to start the car while it's covered with 8 inches of snow, with my car cover underneath that! It's going to take me at least 10 minutes to get the snow and cover off a huge vehicle like an Endeavor.

And I have found a technician in Woburn, Ma who can install the remote starter without having to duplicate the microchip. He is also going to install fog lights and heaters for the side-view mirrors.
