Default Alarm with Remote Starter

I am planning on installing a Alarm/Remote Starter/keyless entry on
my 2001 Montero Sport LS. Most of the websites I've checked say I don't
need a bypass module, but I know that I have the ignition key with a chip in
it. The dealer told me that the vehicle will not start with a copy of that
key, unless I get the key from a mitsubishi dealer. Can anyone tell me what
the deal is? I also called a Mits. dealer and asked the service dept. the
kid in there said the same thing, no byhpass module needed. Should I
install one to be safe? If I do that I gotta buy another of those damn $100
keys.

Default RE: Alarm with Remote Starter

I hear bad things about those remote starters. They cause a lot of problems for the Montero's electronics. As far as replacement keys go to www.streetkeys.com.
