Differences between Evo IX and Eclipse GSX

Differences between Evo IX and Eclipse GSX
I would imagine they are very similar, both being based off the same engine and possibly the same transmission. But that’s why I’m asking questions because I don’t know.
I know the Evo has way more HP, better breaks. Beyond that I’m not sure where the similarities end.

RE: Differences between Evo IX and Eclipse GSX
the motors are 180 degrees opposed from eachother
the EVO has much stonger internals able to handle around 520AWHP before the motors needs to be built the eclipse is only around 420ishHP
The EVO head flows much better, not to mention the IX has MIVEC
the EVO manifold is bigger and flow much better
the EVO turbo is much bigger and runs 20PSI stock the Eclipse turbo can only handle 19 and it runs 10 stock
the EVO drivetrain (tranny ect ect) is much beefier and handles abuse rather well if you can drive properly.
Basially is the same motor but hardly the same at all every thing was much improved for the EVO it flows much better through the head and the block is built stronger.

RE: Differences between Evo IX and Eclipse GSX
Alright cool, I was interested in doing a transplant of an Evo power plant, drive train and breaks into my Eclipse sometime in the near future. I know it’s not all that practical but it would be fun to do and I’d be left with a really strong Eclipse.

Why Not?

you cant swap the EVO motor into the eclipse unless its a 2000+ RS or GS

the motors are 180 degrees opposed from each other, so the intake and trottlebody ect ect face the opposite way. the RS GS eclipse is the same as the EVO and people have swapped the EVO head into those cars and didnt bother with the block because it is a 2.4Lso with a built bottom end it is similar to having a 2.4L stocker EVO motor

RE: Differences between Evo IX and Eclipse GSX
Interesting. Well I figured you would need new motor mounts and rearrange how things were in the engine compartment but its interesting some RS/GS can take Evo parts natively.
Right now all I’ve got is a 98 Eclipse GS with a 420a engine, nothing special. I saw an inexpensive GSX with the drive train intact but no engine and was considering adopting this vehicle as a project car. But anyways it sounds like they are close enough that the engine will at least physically fit in the engine compartment, but might need custom motor mounts.

RE: Differences between Evo IX and Eclipse GSX
The EVO motor will never work in those cars. it will fit in but will not work ever it is impossible. same with he 420a you cant swap in the 4g63 in there. the 420a is more possible to get eclipse 4g63 in than the evo swap though into either the 420a or 2G turbo models

RE: Differences between Evo IX and Eclipse GSX
it isnt impossible and if you say it is you are a moron, it is completely possible you just may need to do some custom fabrications and such, maybe it is impossible for you to do but for those who have the patience, time and money it is completely possible

RE: Differences between Evo IX and Eclipse GSX
no it is not... there is a perfectly good reason why a company named RRE that is know for 4g63 motor swaps into cars has NOT done this (IT CANT BE DONE) unless you built the car from the ground up at which point you are spending more than it would cost buy an more than one EVO. It is just not relivant to do or attempt. RRE has spen endless amounts ofmoney putting in 4G63s into 3Gs making a RWD race car doing it in a 420a powered 2G , the 4G GSX ect ect why do you think the EVO motor has not been seen in a 2G yet??
