Question 02 Galant Upstream Oxygen Sensor

2002 Galant 2.4L 4 Cyl

My check engine light came on a few days ago and I took it in to get checked out. I was told it was the upstream oxygen sensor heater. From what I have read it is located on the manifold. I don't really want to pay $208 for a replacement so I bought a Denso replacement and would like to do it my self.

My questions:

Is the sensor sunken in and require an oxygen sensor socket? Or is it where I could use a standard wrench? Is it easily accessible with the hood open and leaning in?

I would check but we just got a lot of snow and no garage plus it's 14 degress out.

Its easier to use an o2 sensor socket. It should be pertty easy to get to it on the 2.4 engine.

Thanks. I should be receiving my replacement sensor and a socket in the mail today and hopefully can get it replaced.
