1998 Galant V6 2.5L cold start problems

just got a galant and when you start it up from cold you need to rev the engine at about 2500 to 3000 rpm for about a 1 min depending on the weather conditions. But when the car is warm it starts fine.

Any ideas???

Check for trouble codes first
Check engine temp sensor,IAC valve,vacuum leaks
