Default 2000 Mitsubishi Galant 2.4L engine vibrates and makes noises

My car has this really strange problem it vibrates
when I let it idle, the whole dash will vibrate
even the engines hood.. I did replace the rear motor mount
because it was really worn out, but the car proceeded
with the same problem:/ Idk whats wrong with
this car.. does anyone have any opinions regarding
my car??

Same here. Do you have any updates? I'm thinking motor mounts are needed on mine.

I have a 2004 Galant ES. Recently it started shaking while @ stoplights. 178000 miles. I am thinking motor mounts also! Does anyone have experience changing them out?

I have the 01 Galant, bought it 6 months ago with a vibration. The previous owner told me it was a transmission mount that needed to be replaced. I replaced the front motor mount, the rear motor mount and the transmission mount. The car still vibrates. Only while idling though. The only thing left to check would be the harmonic balancer, which is located on the main pully. If you figure out what to do or how to fix it please fill me in.

Check for vacuum leaks, and a stuck idle air control valve. I replaced my air intake with a low cost cold air intake and found a damaged oring on my IAC and that cleared my vibration up considerably.

One thing to look into is if the timing belt was changed and the oil gear timing mark is 180' out.
It is very easy to make this mistake. The down side is that you will have to remove the belt to check it out.
The timing mark should spin back to the other timing mark when you move it away slightly in
either direction. If you turn it away from the mark and it moves further away, then it is 180' out.
this will cause a low rpm vibration. I hope this helped. Keep us up to date.

One thing to check is what the RPMs are doing. Is the engine idling at the book idle, or is it dipping down? If it is dipping down, it is something wrong with the idle--idle air control valve, dirty throttle body, disfunctional or stuck PCV valve, a vaccuum leak, a filthy air filter, all are possible, and each may contribute partially to a poor idle. So can dirty injectors. Moral? There is nothing like a clean intake and fuel system, and until it is clean, you are going to struggle to diagnose it.
