Default 2001 Galant cylinder 2 misfire

I have a 01 galant 2.4, throwing codes PO302 and PO165. Replaced the o2 sensor and all sparks plugs, upon removing wires tube seals leaking but didn't give it much thought. Also noticed on the third plug to the right the boot is torn that seals around spark plug chamber. So I changed plugs and o2 sensor symptoms I was having went away for a few hours then started again, symptoms being, Hesitation while accelarating, and sputtering while at a stop and so on and so forth. My question is would the crack on the boot on the plug wire cause this? I thought it needed to be the wire itself? Am I wrong? And I'am in no way implying that is my problem but a gentleman told me that could indeed cause arcing and my misfiring problem. Any insight would be greatly appreciated thank you

that model of galant is notorious for the spark plug tubes leaking. when i get one of those in for that problem, i replace the valve cover gasket, all 4 tube seals, plug wires and the coil boots. you have to get the oil out of the plug tubes or it will ruin the new plug wires and coil boots, seen that happen. and to answer your question, yes a tear on the plug wire or the coil boot can cause it to arc and cause a misfire. you do this repair and you shouldnt have any more problems. greg.......
