2011 2.4L expansion valve replaceemnt
Hey all,
I had my ac compressor recently implode and needed to replace it, except it has shot debris all through the system, need to replace my expansion valve and flush the evaporator. book says to remove the whole dash to do this job. has anybody had luck getting the expansion valve out through the firewall? If I remove the intake manifold, there will be considerably more room to work there, I am just not sure if it is physically possible to slide the expansion valve out through the firewall. obviously it will be a tight fit and working through a small hole getting screws in and our and such. and I know there is the block piece bolted on top of it, too. just wondering if anybody had tried it and knows if it is "possible" (as opposed to easy, lol). if not, ill just have to tear the whole thing apart i guess.
anybody tear these dash apart before? any tips on that? lol
thanks for any info!

well ill give an update to my post. I was able to access the expansion valve through the firewall, if anybody ever needs to do this, it is possible. BUT, I needed to flush my evaporator core VERY well because of the epic compressor failure. this, I was unsuccessful doing with it in the vehicle. its just too far recessed into the firewall, too difficult to access. I ended up just tearing the whole thing apart anyway, and then replacing the evap core at the point. flushed all the lines, replaced the condenser, all back together now, and working great.
