Default 4g63t vs. 4g64t

Hey im new to mitsubishis...im a big nissan guy however i just purchased a 98 galant es...what are some advantages or disadvantages to both the engines? Which do you think could get me to about 250 hp? which would be cheaper to build? If possible i'd like to keep my 64 sice its 2.4 liters instead of 2.0.

The 4g63 is the most widely supported platform. There are a few 4g63's out there witht eh 64's head on them. It all depends what you're willing to spend and how patient you are. You can get the 250 ponies outta the 64 it just costs a bit more.

Oh and BTW Welcome I'm a converted Nissan man as well. I have an '03 Sentra daily driver and a '92 Eclipse project as well as a '88 Conquest project.

i would say the 4g63 is way better for high horsepower then the 4g64, my borther has a 4g64 3rd gen eclipse and it dynoed 108whp with a injen cold air intake...

i am a nissan guy and a mitsu buy..lo i got a 78 datsun 280Z and a 96 mitsu eclipse syder GS (4g64) andfrom my expierences the 64 it torquier...its harder to find thing for but i personally think that a 64 has more long term potencial..but the 63 is a general platform like sang said so its easier to get up there cause its easier to find the right things....thats also why there is the price difference in supplies in the two motors....

the 4g64 is fine more tq faster spool and can handle 15PSI on stock bottom end which will get around 310WHP. the 4g63 cant really be swapped unless its an EVO motor in which case is crazy retardedly expensive anyways

You can swap in a 4G63t from a 1G or 2G Eclipse into a 7G Galant. Has been done plenty of times. I would actually suggest a 4G64 block with a 4G63t head for the best motor to build on.
