hey people, I'm back. This time with a different issue. I currently have a 00' Galant with a 2.4 & 4spd auto & I'm starting to pick up on what sounds like a nice little pinging. I can only hear it in 3rd and at about 2000 RPM. I only use gas from a few stations, no nameless crap, usually Shell or BP. 87 octane & I run Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant. No mods, bone stock engine with 161 on the odometer. I changed the plugs about 5000 miles ago & used NGK platinums. Coil packs & wires are due, but haven't had a chance to change them. Both cv's are leaking but I doubt they're worn enough to cause that noise & it only happens in 3rd at 2k. It gets worse under load but if I slack off the throttle it goes away. I had a similar issue with a 01 Taurus but Sandy took it before I could fix it. I know that a bad EGR valve can give pinging, but I don't want to change parts unless I have to, I'm sure you all can understand
