I just think this is weird and dont know if it indicates a problem. The engine (2.4L SOHC) just automatically gears / slows down every time i coast downhill. What's up with that??? My g/f's 04 corolla doesn't do it. It accelerates under the force of gravity like a normal car should. Anyone experienced this??

 

my guess is to keep your speed down so you dont have to stay on the breaks down the hill. just a guess tho

 

its suppost to. It knows you're going downhill, and downshifts to compensate. Its part of the "invecs" programming.

I didn't know that. Thanks. I thought this was a problem, but it's nice to know my 94 ES is doing what it should.
