Default Car won't start

Hey guys I am new to the forum and looking to get a little input on my 99 galant gtz. I just bought the car two weeks ago and the car has ran great so far. But I noticed that the car was starting to become sluggish while trying to crank it over to start. Then just a few days ago I made a quick stop and came back out and it would not start at all. I let it sit for about 5 minutes and then it finally cranked over. I drove it home came out the next day and it wouldn't start at all. It just makes a clicking noise. So I checked the battery with a volt meter and it was at 12.6 volts so good there. I then cleaned off all corrosion from the battery terminals and still no start. It sounds like the starter to me but before I purchased one I wanted to get your input on what you think it might be. After all I would hate purchase the starter and come to find out that the cars have problems with relays going bad or something like an ignition switch. Thanks

What I would suggest is taking off your battery and totally discharging it ... a headlight bulb should do the trick, then use a trickle charger to recharge the battery up to optimal level then try again.

If this fails then have a look at the terminals & wires on the starter motor they could be corroded or loose or have a bad earth.

check the wire from the battery to the starter.. could be bad... thats what happened to me.. $10 for a new one, easy project. and the wire didnt even look bad, but it was indeed the problem
