Default fuel trim code and alt belt problems

Really did try a search. Just aquired a '98 Galant 4cyl. auto 100K miles. It's throwng a PO170 code (fuel trim) which from what I can tell is the MAF, an O2 sensor, or a vacuum leak. It causes a hesitation when accelerating when bad but it's intermittant and so I'm leaning away from a vacuum leak. Anyone have an idea? Also, it keeps munching the alternator/water pump belt. The P/S pump belt is fine. Sounds like the crank/harmonic balancer pulley is bad about coming apart on these cars. Can't see any movement when running but can't see anything else either. How do you tell? Alt turns freely but I guess it could be bad. Thanks in advance.
