Question Galant 2007, question ......

I have purchased a used Galant 2007. It is an automatic.

I am stopped at a light on a hill ( not enormous ).
When the light turns green, I take my foot off the brake ( the car rolls backward) I have to put my foot on the gas immediately, so I won't hit the car behind me.
Like I say, it is automatically.
If I had an stickshift, I can understand but why now ?
Is this normal ?
Thank You

Mitsubishi uses something called "idle neutral logic" in its more recent transmissions where it disengages the engine from the transmission at idle. It's supposed to reduce wear and fuel consumption. I tried looking to see if it was listed for the '07 Galant but couldn't find it specifically for your model. Maybe if you called the local dealer and asked them if Galants had idle neutral in '07.
