Looking to buy a Galant
Hi everyone. Im new to the forum. Im from Montreal Canada and am currently shopping cars and am pretty interested in a 2007 Galant that I found. Since I dont know anybody who owns a Galant, I would like to know what are your thoughts on these cars. What are the general impressions from owning these cars? How reliable are they? What are the pros and cons of the Galant? Would you take a Galant over a Honda Accord and why? How good or bad are they on gas mileage? How well do they handle on country roads?.....and anything I should know about theses vehicles.
By the way the Galant Im looking at is a ES 2.4. I do alot of milleage everyday to work so I dont want something too expensive on gaz.
This Galant has 57000km (35000 miles) and was put in service in September 2008 so it still has the full waranty for a good while and also the 10 year powertrain.
Thanks

I just sold my 2001 galant with abou 190,000 miles on it. It was a car I pulled from a junk yard with 80,000 miles. The engines are of a solid design, and mostly trouble free. Be very careful who you have service it. There are some dealers who don't pay attention, and can do a lot of damage to your car. In my case it was a timing belt, they put it on with the counter balance out of phase, causing severe vibrations that broke my intake manifold.
Apart from dealer created problems, I never had any issues with the car. I kept up on the maintanence, and it got about 26Mpg til the day I sold it. I do drive somewhat hard though...
But, its an excellent car, and should treat you well.
Enjoy.

As long as the previous owner took care of it, you should be good to go. Mine is a 2006 I bought for my wife and I really like it. No problems, but the engine is a bit noisy during acceleration and idle. I think this is typical of Mitsu engines. Given the great gas mileage, it's hard to complain. Very good on gas. According to the gauge I get consistently > 40mpg on the HW as long as I stay 65 or under. BTW, check on that warranty, because I found out that the 10 years is only for the first owner. 2nd owner gets 60,000/5 years (if I remember right).
