oil leak from a distributor cap

Default oil leak from a distributor cap

hey guys, my 98 galant 4g64is leaking oil from the distributor cap. What could it be? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Replace the distributor o-ring.

I have this same problem on my 98 galant 4cyl. Did you fix yours?

its not comming from the cap guys. there is a oring on the distributor housing that goes into the head. not very expensive. have to remove the distributor, take off the o ring and install the new one. not a hard job. just put some grease or oil on the new oring before u reinstall, could tear if you dont. good luck!!

Exclamation galant oil leak

My 1995 has an oil leak. There is always oil if i wipe my finger under the distributor cap and along the surface it connects to. any ideas?

I have a 98 Galant ES too, and I think I have a leaky disributer o ring too. Although I've never actually seen it leak, or seen spots of oil on the ground, there is sludge on the top of the tranny right below where the disributer sits. I replaced one on my Camry, it's simple, but I think there is an internal o ring as well?
