Default Power Steering Rack

How do you know if your power steering rack is bad and needs replacing?

Poke a hole in the boots and see if any fluid comes out, its bad. I would imagine it would be like $400-500 for parts and labor.

is there a reason you think the rack is bad? noises, tightness in the steering? the fluid could be contaminated and it would take a flush to clear that up flush<$ rack replacement

Anyway If you have a problem in it give you some details...if it lots of wiring under the seats and carpet. Depending on where you live get it to an auto electric shop. Could be expensive but they will find it faster than most. I work in the collision repair industry and when we get flood damaged vehicles they just get towed to the junk yard as totals. It's very expensive to gut a car and replace all of the electrical wiring. Water in the harness can create shorts all over the vehicle. Good luck.
