Problem with ECF. Please help!
I have a 1999 Galant ES 2.4L. A few days ago I stopped at a red light and the car died. When I went to turn it back on it wouldn't start. It would crank and rollover, but wouldn't start.
I towed it home and immediately hooked a code reader to it but the reader wouldn't work and kept giving errors. I then went to investigate fuses and discovered that the ECF (Engine Control Fuse) had blown. It's only a 20 amp ATM fuse so I replaced it and behold, the car started right up. Strangely enough, the code reader started working as well.
The reader was no help and only came back with 2 errors, one was about my catalytic converter which is unrelated and the other was just a code without a description.
So after I replaced the fuse and started the car I let it idle for about 5 minutes and the fuse blew again. So that's my problem, the ECF keeps blowing.
I'm thinking it could be a ground or maybe the ECU, but I have no way to check. Does anyone have any ideas?
Much appreciated.
