Default Transmission

ok, here we go. Has anyone, or does anyone know much about the trans in the 2001 galant's? I have a GTZ, it is an auto. I want it to be a manual, does the V6 in the GTZ come in any other car that has a manual, or is there a manual trans that will bolt up to the engine. I dont care if i have to make mounts, i just want it to bolt up,

Thanks all,

Bill

Ok... are you aware of the risk, cost and parts that are needed to do this correctly? Let me give you an over view just for fun... flywheel, clutch kit, master cylinder, third pedal, shifter assembley, the trans itself, Fluid reservoir, hydraulic lines... maybe other things that i am missing. Bolting it up is the least of your worries

What im trying to say is that if you do not know what you are doing... then you should not do it. Nor should you be paying someone to do it for you.. that is just simply NOT cost effective and totally goes against the point of doing it.

Much more cost effective to just buy a manual trans car...

I fail to see the point in converting... unless the car does not actually come in a manual.. then i see the point

there was a select few galants that came out in 99 they were base models (DE) and they were available in stick. I personally know someone that convereted their 01 I4 to stick. And assisted with the tranny swaps of 2 more I4s and 1 V6. The transmission from a 3g eclipse (00-04) is interechangable with the 8g (99-03) galants. If you search on the internet you can find the information needed to do this. You can pm me as well.

MrJayDeeOne is right! the 3g eclipse and the 8g galant use the same v6. infact the whole front drivetrain and suspention are alike. so one has to assume that the manual transaxel from an eclipse will bolt direct into a galant no prob. its the pedals and clutch master cylinder that slow things down. also you will need the engine cpu from the eclipse.
