thaks guys....I finally flushed it at Mitsubishi dealer for $177..not so bad
I really appreciate eveyones` input to this thread

Own both Hyundai and Mitsu cars. Both cars use SP III fluid. Even the Mitsu parts guy confirmed it.

I got a Haynes book the other day for my 2001, and I flushed the coolant myself.

I always thought you needed special stuff for transmition fluid but the Haynes book basically says pull plug drain it and refill type thing.

Is this something that's safe to do yourself?

That only changes about 60% of the fluid, which is better than nothing. A flush will change all the fluid.
