Default USDM VR4 galant/evo hybrid?

i was recenlty thinking, how hard would it be to take the evo engine/drivetrain and drop it in a 2001 galant? my dad owns
a 4cyl automatic, and its gonna need a new engine soon...

btw isnt a vr4 pretty much an evo? why havent anyone used them in rally? (just my stupid ideas... ie: "the medula badidea"

unless I'm mistaken, the transmission, engine, and drivetrain from an eclipse gsx will fit in the car. if you can swap the evo motor into the eclipse, I'm sure it will go in the galant.

The E39A is the chassis designation for the GVR4. It is not an EVO. It has been considered the "father " of the EVO however. Mits put alot of time and money into the develpment of that chassis in the hope of being competitive in the WRC . After several years of refinement, they bagged the platform. They took everything they developed and moved it to the Lancer platform, which proved to be a much more suitable chassis for Rally Racing. The Evo was birthed! I'm delighted to have and drive the "father" of the EVO. The 4G63T is so stout and Mod friendly, and with some proper upgrades the Galant can be very......well lets say..roadworthy.

This has been done twice in two seperate 8G Galants. They both use a 4G63t from a EVO IV to EVOVIII and both use a manual 5 speed swap from a 3G Eclipse. Can be done but you won't be able to get AWD unless you use a tranny from a FTO and good luck finding one and that is still just a theroy.

The Galant was used in Rally before the EVO but only the 6G and 5G Galant where used.
