What's involved in removing v6 motor

Default What's involved in removing v6 motor

Has anybody taken out a V6 3.0 out of 99 Galant? Not sure if I need to pull tranny also or how much of the front end apart to change motors!

Any imput would be appreciated,

well if u r trying something like that the i would suggest you to atleast take help of the manual or a professional. personally i think yes u need to pull the tranny but i am not sure.

that wasnt much help anjy834u. why respond at all if you dont know???? mike it is much easier to drop the engine and trans as an assembly from the bottom. if you dont have a lift, this isnt going to be an option for u. that engine can be gotten out from the top by itself with an engine hoist, but its very tricky. trans has to be loose and a floor jack under it to adjust postion as you lift the engine out. even tougher going back in. best way is from the bottom. been there done that.

Default v6 & tranny Galant removal

I ended up putting car up in air on one block, 1 piece of 2x12 flat on block, then a jack stand. One in each corner which gave me about 40" clearance under car. Actually worked out good dropping motor and tranny down and out, no issues, motor is back in and running.
