Default '08 "squeels" after 30mph???

Model: ES w/ roughly 220 miles on it.

I've noticed since the second I bought my Lancer a week ago, that if I roll
my windows down and hit 30mph and up (no matter how slow I go), the car starts to make a pretty
noticable squeel. The faster I go, the louder it gets.

This is pretty annoying, being such a new car. I can say the sound is
similar to a bad belt (timing, pro steering, etc.); only difference from those belts are, mine doesn't do those screeches. I'm doing my best to drive it slow at all times and always stop gradually to break in
everything under the hood. Is this something NORMAL that should go away
after 'x' amount of miles? Or is this something I should have looked into
by the dealership before it's too late?

They apparently found nothing, so I'm gonna assume it's just wind.

I remember seeing some type of accesory Mitsubishi sells that helps deter wind. Has anyone had any experience with these things? I've never had this problem with wind in any other car I've ever been in until now.

It's good to hear that they found nothing defective on your ride. Maybe it's just the kind of road pavement you have in your area. Personally, I hear different sounds of tire-effects depending on what kind of pavement i'm on. The sound effects of asphalt road is different from a concrete pavement IMO.

Definately, thanks for that. I didnt/don't want to have a new car-horror story. I bought one to avoid the surprises my first car (used) last year gave me from previous owner neglect.

Besides... I can live with a wind "whistle" you only hear with the window down and already has available add-on's that might fix the problem. That or the A/C is fine. Nothing wrong with those solutions if you ask me.

The Yokohama tires used on the ES model are a terrible tire that make a vast amount of road noise.
When I test drove an ES and a GTS, I heard a similar "chirping" noise that kinda sounded belt-like on the ES.
The GTS however, drove quiet as a... something reall quiet.

Its either that or power steering... i THINK not 100% sure, but when its not that full it makes some weird noises? maybe it had almost no liquid and they filled it up at checkup? perhaphs?

If you have those window wind deflectors?

Those are the ones that is causing the sound when you open your windows .

Especially frontdriver and passenger side. The car's design was not made for those wind deflectors but I need them when I want some fresh air especially when it's raining hard.

There are only 2 permanent sounds that you will hear inside the Lancer
The small engine sound and the rear tires.

The Engine is a little loud when on idle probably because of the Aluminum engine block. compared to other engine block the Aluminum is so light that you can hear the engine but it doesn'tmean that theengine is bad but just very light.

my 04 did the same and what I did was slam on the brakes for a bit and at times I would press the gas and break at the same time but most likely that the pads are gone and need to get new ones cause I and going to do that to mine gl
