Default 2005 Lancer ES Antenna Help

Hello all, new to the forum. I just bought my son a 2005 Lancer ES and I didn't notice until setting the radio stations, the antenna mast is missing. At closer look it appears that the previous owner must have tried to glue the mast to the base because when I looked in the hole in the base to check the threads, all I can see is what seems to be old, hardened glue filling the hole.

I went to the dealer today and he confirmed that the mast is the screw in type but he couldn't (or wouldn't) confirm that it has male threads on the mast and female threads, nor could he tell me what size (M6, M4, etc) it is. But he was quick to quote me a price of $59 for the mast and $219 for a new base.

So at this point I have a couple of options that I'm looking at. Checking the local wreckers or ordering one of those shark fin replacement units. But either way it would be helpful to confirm the above mounting arrangement and possibly the thread size so I know exactly what I'm working with.
