2006 Mitsubishi Lancer ES seems to be revving and idling high

On idle it sits at around the 2-2500 rpm mark, it still seems to drive fine and has no problem taking off or driving through the lower rpm's

Also noticed at 110KM/H about 70MP/H it seems to be sitting on 3500 rpm

Not sure if this is usual for the car or not

It is my girlfriends car, and I am used to much bigger V8's so am not at all sure what sort of revs is normal for a smaller engine to be sitting on

And in all honesty unless it has 8 cylinders and a carby, i really don't know a massive deal about it
