93 to 95 lancer gsr
I have just bought my dream car a 94 lancer gsr the 1.8l turbo 4wd model and want to know about some states and what advise ppl have to modify the car to pull out good times down the quarter. Also what is standard psi to be run and does the gsr not evo have forged pitons standard
Hi there!
Standard PSI on the GSR would be about 8-10Psi. It does not have forged pistons as standard, in fact the engine internals especially the con-rods are quite weak on the 4G93 ...so be carefull of boost levels, based on my experience you can safely run about 0.9-1.0 Bar (about 15Psi) of boost without any trouble with fully stock internals...i guess anything above 17-18 Psi...you're looking for trouble. In terms of modification...there is a lot you can do..the GSRs have huge potential. But to start off with basic mods, i'd probably say the first thing to do is exhaust 3inch mandrel bent, intercooler, air filter and tweak the boost up to about 15Psi...that should get you in the high 13s down the 1/4 mile. Then after that it's a different story...if you're after blitzering 1/4 mile times...then you're gonna be up for big bucks...
But u can also set up your car for track use and superior handling...then you're gonna have to spend on suspension, strut bars, sway bar, brakes, larger rims for greater grip etc. I think, after a while it's something like...1/4 mile is fun but fun really begins around corners....
Ok..hope that helps...
