gsr LANCER drivetrain

gsr LANCER drivetrain
here in oz we have different names for cars so i could be wrong on some things.
here in australia the only gsr lancers are early 90's after that only evo's. but somtimes [rarely] they are also known as gsr evo's.
1. are there other drivetrains that will fit or can be made to fit a gsr lancer? i have heard the galant vr4 has awd and is compatible.
2. also does the gsr lancer (of the early 90's) have multilinnk independant rear suspension? (or am i going to have to lose mine?)
3. how many of you have fitted awd from a gsr lancer to a mitsubishi mirage? (i presume they are the same name there?)
thank you all, and please forgive my ignorance; i have a lot to learn, just give me time.
EDIT: what you call a mirage eems to be what we call a lancer. in oz it is a hatchback thing, same chassi and front end, but no boot.
