Default Drivetrain shudder / vibration at certain speed

I have an 08 Outlander with the V6 engine that has about 95,000 miles. For a few months now I notice a vibration when I'm at low speed and accelerating. I can sense it through the steering wheel and in the whole vehicle - it isn't too bad but definitely noticeable.

I'm pretty sure it isn't a wheel or tire issue, since it only happens accelerating and seems to happen at a certain engine speed (around 2000 RPM). Also, it happens when driving in a straight line, no turning involved.

I wonder about the harmonic balancer being on the way out, but I don't hear about these things failing much.

Has anyone else been through this or have some ideas about the possible sources?

Thanks.

I know I'm reviving this thread after many years, but did you ever find an answer to the vibration problem you were having? I'm having the same issues and have no clue what it could be

If transmission fluid is due for a change then get that done if not and you have the v6 then add some lubeguard to it. I believe it's the black bottle, high friction modifier is what you want.

Thanks. Is it certain that it's safe to mix with J2 fluid?

I was wrong thanks for questioning. The hfm black bottle is for the older models. For the 07 6speed auto it would be the platinum(grey) bottle you can also use the small 2 or 3 oz tube of shudder fix.

Thanks. Have you ever used it before , and did it work? By chance if you did use it, was it in The mitsubishi V6 transmission?

After more troubleshooting, I found that the vibration only exists when the vehicle is switched into switched in to 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive.. It doesn't vibrate in front wheel Drive mode. I'm assuming it could be the drive shaft.. Wondering if there could be anything else, and if it is a drive shaft, is it That bad of a job to replace it? It doesn't really look that involved
