Battery oxidation...?

Battery oxidation...?
Quick question, I think I see copper oxidation? on my battery's positive terminal.
The battery is about 6 years old and it is an energizer batt. I think I've been battling this since the second year I got this batt. There would be a blueish white powder like oxidation surrounding itself on the positive terminal of the battery. I keep on cleaning it and it just keep on coming back.
any ideas what could be causing this? Is it the battery? Think a new one may stop the oxidation from forming up?
So far the battery seems to be performing pretty way, I have yet seen any problems ever since I replaced the OEM one with this.
