I have a lancer 2006. When i get it checked/scanned from a mechanic it will show DTCs, but now i have bought Vgate Scan Tool and when I connect it with the my vehicles OBD-2 connector and then run ScanMatser on my laptop, it gives me the error 'cannot connect ECU' if i use the 'Automatic' protocol, and if I use any other protocols one by one, it will sometime give me the error 'BUS INIT...Error'.

Though I am able to connect to the BT interface but then the interface further fails to connect with the car's ECU, why?
