Default How reliable are 09 Lancers?

Hi. I'm planning on buying a slightly used (6K miles) 09 Lancer.

I would like to know how reliable they are. I read the paint tends to chip, but how is the overall reliability of these cars?

I know it's hard to judge being as though it's an 09, but I would appreciate any input, and ppl haven't had too much time for problems to occur. Any input, even on older comparable models.

I am planning on keeping this car for 5-10 yrs. I know honda toyota are more reliable, but are Lancers strong as well? I know problems will occur as with any car, but I'm not sure how many and how often.

I've never had a Mitsubishi, and don't want to regret it years down the line.

Would you recommend it?? Thanks.

I have 2008 ES Lancer bought mine on 2007 it has 51,400 miles. lots of miles because I travel to work 60 miled a day 5 days a week.

No problems at all. very reliable.

DO NOT BE FOOLED about the paint. I live in New England my car paint is still nice and shiny as long you avoid flying pebbles or small stones on the highway.

Japanese cars are all the same as long you take care of your car.

If you have concern on your 09 Lancer ask this Web site. You have more power on your Lancer. I hope you bought a manual tranny so you can feel the power of the MIVEC Engine.

The Lancer wants to handled rough like a rally car but do not abuse the clutch.

It handles well, I went around a sharp 90 turn on like Thursday way way too fast. drifted a bit but other then that I did fine.

Other then that the paint issue will arise if you live somewhere that has a winter and you try to drive if they sand or gravel the road. Mine looks horrible.. and I've seen a "sandblasted" look on other Lancers that drive under those conditions.

I've got 12.5k on mine and I have had absolutely no problems with it.

I've had my 09 for over a year. The only thing was that they announced a recall on some minor break valve, which they replaced quick and free.

The true reliability is better judged after the 100,000 km mark. But with powertrain warranty of 160km you can't go wrong.
