Default I have a Sportback LS, and a million questions...

So, having never owning a car before (just beater trucks), when I bought my lancer sportback (06), I thought that the LS model would be all I would ever need.

Of course now I've had it for a while, and to be honest, I'm getting into this car thing, and somewhat wishing that I had thrown down the extra cash for the ralliart.

I've gotten the bug and already upgraded some stuff, 18 inch rims and tires, new deck and speakers, and I just got an intake (Injen CAI) a couple of days ago.

I'm a little concerned about the whole intake thing, I got the dealer to install it because I didn't want any issues with voiding the warranty. But now I have been reading about the danger of getting water in the engine. I live just north of vancouver and it rains a lot here, was an intake a bad call for this climate? It's pretty fun right now but will I need to drive like a little old lady every time it rains?

I'm also wondering if it's possible to put some of the ralliart parts onto the LS sportback, things like the struts, front tower brace, foglights, etc. Also I'm wondering where the additional 2 speakers in the Ralliart are mounted?

Any info on what Ralliart parts I could put on the car as well as where to find them would be appreciated....

Thanks

the cold air intake, ummmm I guess it depends on where you have yours mounted, I just did an engine at work like two days ago (05 ralliart) that had cold air intake with the filter mounted in front of the drivers side wheel and it was hydrolocked so bad it stopped the engine dead and bent both number 1 and 2 connecting rods. I also have another one sitting at work that is gonna be a write off cause it took water into the passenger compartment and the wiring and ECM are damaged. As for swapping your parts there shouldn't be an issue as the basic structural design is the same. I can't remember off hand on your car if it has a rear sway bar or not, if it doesn't the wholes should be in your lower control arms for the links, but I am not sure if the mounting plates for the bushings are installed. I can find out easy enough at work. Oh btw you are in Vancouver, and the two submarine victims I have, one finished and the other written off, are in Alberta. I do however have a thought I know that a K&N air filter states somewhere on the box that the filter will NOT in any way void manufacturers warranty. I would read the Cold Air Intake book or the box and look for the same fine print. From what I can see it would almost be better to find a short style cold air intake that doesn't go down to the wheel well area.

Hi, yeah I have some photos, don't know how to put them on here though.....

Thanks for the input on the speakers, I'm trying to get a good sounding system in mine. Replaced the 4 factory ones, but the rears were a huge pain to install, and now they rattle because they are deeper than the stock ones, and touch the speaker guards.

Thinking about putting in a sub, but don't want to compromise space, I fill it up with surf gear sometimes, and don't want to have to work around a sub box. Thinking about maybe trying to sink one into the lid of the storage compartment so it sits flush.

I can't seem to find anywhere to look for ralliart parts that I might be able to put on my LS, I was thinking the front post stabilizer would be a good start, if I could find one....

Don't they sell Ralliart parts at your dealer? I know they got the front strut bars there. Rob

Default Buy SRI

Your engine my Gulp a lot of water. If you have by pass Valve it will still drink a lot of water.

Buy the Injen Hydo shieldor the Waterproof Hydro shield
They protect your air filter from dust and especially water. I buy the Latter if I was you the Hydro shield is for SRI onlyandthe alluminum coveris for CAI

but please next time buy a Short Ram Intake and make if Fujita F5

They sound better than CAI and I hate CAI....
