P0741 2008 Lancer
Hello!
Car: 2008 Lancer GTS, CVT
Got this car like 2 years ago, its a project (restore)… Long/Short story. It’s was sitting around (2 or 1 year), Previous owner destroy the engine (irreparable, buy a new one) Check the transmission, everything good. Never have problems with the transmission but now triggers ‘P0741; Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off.’
On 60+mph, 1 hour (or distance; 47km) of driving triggers the code/problem. Does a hard shift and “slips”, Lazy mode ON.
Start repairing, $ to $$$…
1. Change the transmission fluid (original) and both filters. Problem persists
2. Change the following solenoids (sold on set, originals); Line press, Secondary variator press, TCC, TCC lock-up. Problem persists
3. Change Torque Converter Clutch (The lock-up was falling apart). Problem persists
My next move will be check pressures and electrical system (one in the valve body). Already check the outside wiring, TCM to Sensor-side connector. Now I will check the valve body wiring and pressures.
If anyone have information what is happening and solve the problem, help, I’ll be very thankful. Maybe it’s weird or stpid but I will do all tests possibles, want to do the process.
9 Months later.
Everything was fine, wiring and pressure.
The cost for repair (transmission), way more ($5k) higher than swapping.
$2,500 Swap to manual. New clutch, Flywheel, Lines, etc.
I wasn’t going to buy a automatic transmission to las 240k-300k
