Hey all...new here. I have a 04 lancer sportback. Prior to about a week ago, I would shut the car off and all is well. Now when I shut the car off the radiator fan stays on. It doesnt matter the temperature. I can have the car on for 30 seconds and it will still stay on for about 10 seconds consistently. Could a have a bad thermostat somewhere?

 

Thats weird you might have a fault in the circut thats telling computer your engine temp is high I dont think it would be your thermostat. Fan's click on when engine is too hott doesnt matter if the key is out they do this to prevent "Heat Soak".But you said if you had car on for sec and shut it off it would click fan on could be switch I woudlnt worry to much about it just check the connection to make sure it clean and nothing stuck on connectors. Its not bad idea changing your thermostat& gasketif you havent changed it in while.

 

you need a new fan control unit.

 

I just called Mitsubishi and there is a recall on the fan controller on some Lancers, mine is an 02 OZ and mine is covered, call 1-888-648-7820 and give them your Vin and they will tell you what recalls effect your car. Hope this helps!
