Is it possible to install an aftermarket turbocharger or cold air intake in an '04 Lancer Sportback? If so, where are so good places to check for these parts and will they void my warranty? I'm doing this under the impression that it'll improve my fuel economy, or at least get me more horsepower while maintaining my current fuel economy. My only other concern is that it may cause trouble for my engine and somehow negatively affect it.

 

you dont have a stock turbo charger and to install on on the car you gas miles will get much worse and youll gain alot of HP but it will cost you $4k+ to do and will void you warrenty in a second. A cold air intake will help gas milage small HP increase and wont void your warrenty those are about $200 and can be found all over ebay and other car vendors

 

Will I need a cold air intake made specifically for the Sportback or will it work with any 2.4 4G69 MIVEC?

 

Look for one for any 2.4 Lancer, it's a more compact engine bay than the Outlander, so those likely wouldn't work. If it says 2.4 MIVEC (4g69) Lancer Ralliart/sportback it should work fine.

 

On a related topic, I tried to get it arranged for an aftermarket cruise control to be put on my Lancer Sportback, but they have no record of such a car existing on their database, with or without a 2.4L engine. I'm not sure where else to try, since it seems most Mitsubishi certified dealers won't install one either (they directed me to the aftermarket place). It's pretty weird that they wouldn't have that car on file.
