Hello everyone. First post for me. I just got my 08 Lancer GTS CVT 7 days ago. I have drove almost 800 miles now so it has mostly been interstate driving. I am only averaging 22 miles per gallon on the interstate, with cruise control around 80mph. I have not gunned it or anything like that I even tried turning the air conditioner off on the second tank of gas. So as of right now i'm getting about 19mpg city and 22mpg interstate. Does anybody know of something I can check to get my mileage to 24/29 where it should be? Thanks

 

i get close to 30 w/ cruise set at about 75. i have the 5 spd gts.

what part of country are you in? lots of hills ?

also i noticed my milage drops alot when the temp. outside is cold as well.......

 

CVT kills it

 

I live in Tennessee so there are hills but nothing major. I was hoping the engine just needed to break in but I think I'm well past that stage.

Sebba: Are you saying that all cvt get bad mileage?

 

Yes i am.

Also, when you get like 20k on the engine, it will be at its peak power and mpg.

 

Dang that really sucks, I feel like I'm getting F*ed out of 8 mpg ~ 120 miles per fill up or about $30 a month. Also did anyone notice that on the sun and sound package on the window sticker it says there are 9 speakers in the car when there are actually only 7? Odd...

 

If i'm not mistaken, the rear speakers has the tweeters in the center of the main speakers, so I guess that "counts" as two.

Also I have GTS 5-speed manual and consistantly get 26-32 MPG on freeway speeds of roughtly 65-75mph. Just hit 11k since I bought it last april.

wasnt 1 of the pros about CVT was that it saves gas?

Yes, what you have to understand is that this can do exactly the opposite at the same time.

If you drive it like a grandma you will get realy good mileage, but any enthusiastic driving, and it will kill your MPG.

22 isnt all that bad...
