"Buzzing" sound from rear of 95 Montero LS
I'm the proud owner of a 95 Montero. It's my first car and I love it. I've named it "Monty." So far it hasn't given me much grief. But now something weird happens.
At random (while driving) a loud buzzing sound comes from the back of the Monty. It sounds like it's from around the fuel tank area. The noise lasts about a minute then goes away. The occurence is random and I can't get it to systematically occur. If it starts up and I turn Monty off the sound will continue for the normal minute or so.
Any idea what this is? Things that I have no idea what they are worry me. I've been taking good care of Monty and I hope to keep it for a long time.
ps - the engine has152k on it. The only other problem I have is the head gasket is leaking and the oil drips past the alternator which sucks it in, causing the alternator to die every 9 months. But that's easily fixed with a guard between the leak and the alternator. I just need to get around to doing it.
