Default Not as expensive as I feared...

I paid $87 for the vacuum solenoid and $23 for labor; my mechanic is pretty good about charging fair prices so I don't think I paid too much.

Default Switch Price

The switch atop the front differential on my 93 runs about $19 at the dealership. They just ordered me one. I broke mine while removing the engine.

Booked my mitsu in to get the solenoids changed and turned out to be alot more expensive then i expected. both switches were faulty (the one on the transfer case & front differential) but happy its done now 4wd engages and works a treat. I was told that four-wheel-drive should be seleced at least once a month to keep the solenoids working freely and so they dont get stuck/become faulty. Unfortunately when i bought my montero sport (challenger) i was drawn to it because it had done no offroad work and i thought this was a good thing, but turns out these systems need to be used every so often to keep them operational.

Just another unrelated questions for montero sport owners, how low does the fuel on the fuel tank indicator have to be before the low fuel lamp lights up? when my tank is pretty much on "E" there is no low fuel lamp, and i've never seen it lit while ive owned the car. does the needle usually go under the 'E' before the lamp comes on? i dont really have the nerve to test it and just fill her up when she gets low. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

I need the clear description. The one I was referring to is located on the top of the front differential.
