I have a problem with my 4WD engaging and have narrowed the problem down to the selector switch. When I select 4WD via the handle within the drivers cab, the 4WD engage lights jump on and off...sometimes they flash and sometimes the 4WD is fully engaged and then shuts off. I can actually hear the switch below the handle click on and off. It sounds like the switch is just below the console. If I physically hold the handle in a certain position, the switch stays on and the 4WD is fully engaged...but, when I let go of the handle the switch shorts on and off. I need to replace this switch. How do I do it? Can I take the console out and access the switch from above?...is there an easier way? Thanks for your help...

Since you are servicing your system, you might think about a fluid change in your transfer case if it's been a while.

Thanks for the info. I went to the link you provided and it is all in Russian language. I followed every link that had anything with Pajero III in it (and many other links) but I couldn't find a pdf and all the language is in Russian. Any suggestions?
