Default 03 LTD Spare Tire Cover Question

I own a silver 03 LTD with a black spare tire cover. The clear outer portion of the tire cover is peeling away from the black. It was just a small spot originally but we recently experienced alot of rain in a short period and now the water has seeped down behind the clear portion. It's now bubbled and looks terrible. Is there any way to fix this aside from ordering a new cover?

Nope, you'll need to get a new cover. Luckily, it's covered under warranty provided you're under the mileage. Good luck!

An '03 with a black spare tire cover? That is strange. I have an '03 and the cover is Silver. I thought in '03 all the spare covers matched the body paint.

Yes it does have a black tire cover. I wish it were silver and if I end up getting a factory cover, I will go with silver if possible.

I have seen a few black ones that are peeling as you have described. I bet you wont be the first one the dealer has had to replace under warranty.

We have a pearl white '02 Montero XLS and the paint started to peel at the top. I have seen many with this problem so ours is not unique! They run about $250 at the dealer but nobody seems to have them anymore... So I bought a nice looking black leather one at it works... at least until I can find a original one that isn't peeling.

I know it's an old post, but I just had mine repainted by a body shop for $125. Looks brand new.
